There was a men’s team from PLU that registered and showed up Saturday for the opening ceremonies and ready to play their games during the 1st Annual Capital City 3on3 Basketball Tournament in 2018. We found out last minute our opening act wasn’t going to make it to sing the national anthem. Luckily, Martin McElliott from Thurston talk was our emcee and willing to step in, and at that same time, the PLU Boys, as we now refer to them as, said they could sing it. T
hey quickly gave us a preview and stepped up and sang the national anthem acapella and it was amazing! We were blown away how good they sounded and that it all came together.
We reached out to them to return in 2019 for Saturday’s National Anthem and they graciously agreed! This year they sported their aloha attire as Team Oly Bros from PLU - Nathan, David, Jacob, and Jason Rowland sung the National Anthem..
